Energy Efficient and Reliable Wireless Sensor Networks - An Extension to IEEE 802.15.4e
Collecting sensor data in industrial environments from up to some tenth of
battery powered sensor nodes with sampling rates up to 100Hz requires energy
aware protocols, which avoid collisions and long listening phases. The IEEE
802.15.4 standard focuses on energy aware wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and
the Task Group 4e has published an amendment to fulfill up to 100 sensor value
transmissions per second per sensor node (Low Latency Deterministic Network
(LLDN) mode) to satisfy demands of factory automation. To improve the
reliability of the data collection in the star topology of the LLDN mode, we
propose a relay strategy, which can be performed within the LLDN schedule.
Furthermore we propose an extension of the star topology to collect data from
two-hop sensor nodes. The proposed Retransmission Mode enables power savings in
the sensor node of more than 33%, while reducing the packet loss by up to 50%.
To reach this performance, an optimum spatial distribution is necessary, which
is discussed in detail
Synthese von 5-(Dialkylamino)-5-X-pentadienalen aus 'Push-Pull'-Eninen
5-Aminopent-2-ene-4-inals 1 are easily available by Pd(0)-catalyzed coupling of stannyl ynamines 6 or silyl ynamines 7 with 3-iodoacroleine. They react nearly quantitatively with acids like HCl or AcOH to give 5-amino-5-X-pentadienals 2, which are of interest in view of a postulated rearrangement
AI Art in Architecture
Recent diffusion-based AI art platforms are able to create impressive images
from simple text descriptions. This makes them powerful tools for concept
design in any discipline that requires creativity in visual design tasks. This
is also true for early stages of architectural design with multiple stages of
ideation, sketching and modelling. In this paper, we investigate how applicable
diffusion-based models already are to these tasks. We research the
applicability of the platforms Midjourney, DALL-E 2 and StableDiffusion to a
series of common use cases in architectural design to determine which are
already solvable or might soon be. We also analyze how they are already being
used by analyzing a data set of 40 million Midjourney queries with NLP methods
to extract common usage patterns. With this insights we derived a workflow to
interior and exterior design that combines the strengths of the individual
platforms
Notiz zur Umlagerung von 5-Chloro-5-(dialkylamino)-pentadienalen
Similarly to 3-chloro-3-(dimethylamino)acrolein (2), 5-chloro-5-(dimethylamino)penta-2,4-dienal (6) easily rearranges in the presence of traces of acid to 2-(dimethylamino)pyrilium chloride (8), which is the postulated intermediate of the rearrangement of 6 to 5-chloropenta-2,4-dien-N,N-dimethylamide (10)
Planbasierte graphische Hilfe in objektorientierten Benutzungsoberflächen

Embodied geosensification-models, taxonomies and applications for engaging the body in immersive analytics of geospatial data
This thesis examines how we can use immersive multisensory displays and body-focused interaction technologies to analyze geospatial data. It merges relevant aspects from an array of interdisciplinary research areas, from cartography to the cognitive sciences, to form three taxonomies that describe the senses, data representations, and interactions made possible by these technologies. These taxonomies are then integrated into an overarching design model for such "Embodied Geosensifications". This model provides guidance for system specification and is validated with practical examples
Organizational Water Footprint to Support Decision Making: a Case Study for a German Technological Solutions Provider for the Plumbing Industry
With water scarcity representing an increasing threat to humans, the environment and the economy, companies are interested in exploring how their operations and supply chains affect water resources globally. To allow for systematically compiling the water footprint at the company level, the organizational water footprint method based on ISO 14046 and ISO/TS 14072 was developed. This paper presents the first complete organizational water scarcity footprint case study carried out for Neoperl GmbH, a German company that offers innovative solutions regarding drinking water for the plumbing industry. The cradle-to-gate assessment for one year includes, besides facility-based production activities, purchased materials, electricity and fuels, and supporting activities, such as company vehicles and infrastructure. Neoperl’s total freshwater consumption amounts to approximately 110,000 m3, 96% thereof being attributable to the supply chain, with freshwater consumption through purchased metals playing the predominant role. Metals (mainly stainless steel and brass) are major hotspots, also when considering the water scarcity-related local impacts resulting from freshwater consumption, which mainly affect China and Chile. These results can be used to improve the company’s supply chain water use in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders by means of, e.g., sustainable purchase strategies or eco-design options to substitute water intensive materials.BMBF, 02WGR1429, GROW - Verbundprojekt WELLE: Wasserfußabdruck für Unternehmen - Lokale Maßnahmen in Globalen WertschöpfungskettenDFG, 414044773, Open Access Publizieren 2019 - 2020 / Technische Universität Berli
